Sunshine, Lollipops And Death
2 June 2015 Comment
We were invited to the opening of "Sunshine, Lollipops and Death" a multi-disciplinary visual art exhibition by the second year students at the Australian Academy of Design.
Being proud Alumni of the AAD we were thrilled to attend and shoot the opening.
From what we recall, the exhibition was completely organized by the students as one of the electives for the Bachelor of Design Arts course - so not only having made exceptional artworks under the theme, but also the organizing and completion of putting together an exhibition and opening night was all done by the second year students. A feat to be proud of!
What's fantastic about young and new art is that it is sometimes fearless and not tainted or weighed down by what is expected or the 'rules' of art. It's exciting to see work like this.
It's also excited to show up (it was at Open Space - at the back of the Eckersley's on Franklin Street in the CBD - very cool) to such a bustling and busy opening - so much support for these students and young artists. It had a great energy and we were pleased to be there and proud to be invited.
