Pretty Puke exhibition at Spares

Comment

”PrettyPuke’s photography has garnered a cult following amongst internet-culture millennials who live vicariously through his portrayal of hyper-sexualized independence. His candid photographs document freedom in its rawest nature; anonymous subjects captured in fleeting moments of abandoned inhibitions, celebrating life as an outlier outside of the norms of society. As we increasingly grow desensitized from our emotions, PrettyPuke pushes the boundaries in an attempt to make us feel something through his shocking photograph”. As part of this year’s CARBON festivities, he will be exhibiting his works outside of America for the first time ever.” - Taken from press release statement from Spares website. Heavily aestheticized in the style of Vice or ThreeThousand - this exhibition showcased a small number of unframed photographs of front-flash, low-fi images of young women stradling shirtless men, wearing animal masks while having anal sex simulated against them, simulating fellatiao to wads of American money or just being used as flesh props. Think Dash Snow, or Nan Goldin -esque in aesthetics if relating to high art. There was free beer and that was good.
