Off The Kerb Re-Opening Party & Exhibition Part 1
9 February 2014 Comment
On Friday I headed over to Collingwood with a few friends for the re-opening of the beloved Off The Kerb Gallery.
Off The Kerb is an amazing space/building/gallery that supports emerging and establishing artists. The team at OTK - headed by Shini - are amazing, beautiful, supportive people and it was so fantastic to be at the re-opening of the gallery and studios.
I’ve had works exhibited in two different shows at OTK and my experience was just fantastic. It was so easy and so lovely to work with Shini and Dan and I felt completely supported and understood as an emerging artist. The guys at OTK just love art. They just want to exhibit good and exciting work and help foster young and emerging artists and allow them to get the experience needed exhibiting work, installing and being around galleries.
I always love visiting OTK - the diverse range of work shown there always allows for an exciting experience and the atmosphere is always so welcoming and beautiful - it’s like coming home, greeted with smiles and glasses of wine, it really is a beautiful space here in Melbourne. I highly recommend subscribing to the OTK newsletter or joining them on Facebook to stay up-to-date with further exhibition openings. Head down, have a drink and meet the staff, see some amazing works and just get amongst it. If you are an emerging artist, talk to Shini and the guys about getting involved, if you are new to the art scene then I recommend starting off at OTK.
The beautiful two story Victorian building is a piece of art itself, and having a look around the beautiful courtyard (the back mural changes intermittently) is just a fun and lovely experience.
