Off The Beaten Path. Pt 1

Comment

Instead of the typical white cube gallery photos - we went exploring this evening around Yarraville with Matto Lucas Photography & Design and we have more of a relaxed blog post - we found an amazing space with some hidden street works. Beautiful and awe inspiring some, we actually stumbled upon a few artists in the main section of this abandoned space putting up new work. This brings up a few conversations we can have about art, some which we are sure are not new conversations. “If a tree falls in the forest and there is nobody around to hear it does it make a sound?” What drives you to make work? We wonder, some of these pieces are inaccessible. We had to sneak in, climb dark ladders, maneuver around abandoned corridors. Some were out in plain view - but what is it that drives any artist to make work?
