Five Walls / Trocadero / Arcade openings | 29/6/16

Comment

Last night we attended the opening of three shows in what is fastly becoming a creative hub in the middle of Footscray; the Trocadero building that hosts famous establishment - Trocadero Artspace as well as Five Walls now has an exciting new exhibition space - Arcade. Last night saw the opening of Charlotte Watson’s Disquiet” at Five Walls as well as Suzie Blake’s “What Does Breastfeeding Look Like?” at Trocadero as well as a video installation exhibition at Arcade - “Femme Fatale” by Georgia Banks & Tania Smith. Blake’s gorgeous black and white large scale photographs of women breastfeeding were beautifully hung and the prints were stunning. A beautiful show. Watson’s “Disquiet” was aesthetically interesting, evoking a number of images and entry-points. Banks & Smith’s “Femme Fatale” looked incredible and was darkly humerous. We also were quite taken by Carolyn Menzies “The Single Handed Gardner” installation in the stairwell.
